Tom Welling, who played the future Superman for ten years on The CW’s “Smallville,” has joined the cast of Sparks’ latest film adaptation “The Choice.” He will be joined by Maggie Grace (“Taken”) and Alexandra Daddario (“Texas Chainsaw 3D”). Sparks announced the triple casting on his Twitter Wednesday.
The film begins production Monday in Wilmington.
Set in Beaufort, N.C., “The Choice” follows the story of two neighbors, Travis Parker (Benjamin Walker) and Gabby Holland (Teresa Palmer), who enter into a relationship that takes them on a journey neither expected.
According to Sparks’ Twitter announcement, Welling will play a character named Ryan. But a Deadline post about his casting links him to the book’s character of Kevin McCarthy, Gabby’s boyfriend when she moves to Beaufort and a doctor with her father’s practice. It’s unclear if the character’s name has been changed, or if Welling will play an entirely different character.oice
